Connie Francis viralizes an unknown theme of 1962

Connie Francis, the American pop legend, lives these days an unexpected success thanks to Tiktok. His song ‘Pretty Little Baby’, published in 1962, has viralized on the platform and triggered his listeners in Spotify, and could even break into the Billboard Hot 100 next week. Right now, after having reached the 67th place of Spotify Global, he resists in 90. It already has 26 million streams in the Swedish giant, when it was an unknown song.

Francis, at 87, already knows what it is to appear on the Billboard Hot 100, as he has achieved three number 1 singles during his career, with ‘Everybody’s Holybody’s Fool’, ‘My Heart Has to Mind of its Own’ and ‘Don’t Break The Heart That Loves You’. In addition, Francis was the first woman who reached number 1 of Billboard singles with ‘Everybody’s Hivebody’s Fool’.

However, the acceptance of ‘Pretty Little Baby’ is unexpected, since the song was published discreetly on a 1962 Francis album and went unnoticed, since it never launched as a single. Now, people are using the song massively to encourage videos in which they appear talking to babies and even wearing retro dresses, and have popularized.

‘Pretty Little Baby’, in addition, is an anomalous recording for its instrumentation, because in the chorus it introduces a nice organ of Organillo – probably a Hammond – that looks like a toy: an unusual idea in the pop trends of the time and in the current ones.

Billboard has interviewed Connie Francis for the success of ‘Pretty Little Baby’ and the singer has said that she has discovered Tiktok thanks to this moment.
