Coldplay achieve their tenth consecutive No. 1 in the United Kingdom

‘Moon Music’ has been a resounding success for Coldplay. Chris Martin’s band has made their album the best-selling in the United Kingdom for a group since ‘Midnight Memories’ by One Direction, in 2013. They also have the best opening week of any British artist in three years, since ‘ 30’ by Adele.

Coldplay have released ten albums in more than 24 years, including this last one, and all of them have been number 1 in the United Kingdom. A perfect score. ‘Moon Music’ has sold 236,796 units in its first week, leaving it only behind Taylor Swift’s ‘The Tortured Poets Department’ in terms of total sales in the first seven days. The Swift one managed to sell 270,000 units.

‘Moon Music’ is only the fifth album to surpass 200,000 units in a week in the United Kingdom so far this decade. In addition to the latest LPs by Adele and Taylor Swift, the rest of the list is completed by ‘Midnights’ and ‘Voyage’, ABBA’s latest album. In addition, it is the one that has sold the fastest, both in physical and digital versions, since Adele’s.

In the 21st century, there are only three artists who have more number 1 albums than Coldplay in the UK. It would be Robbie Williams and Taylor Swift, tied at 12, and Eminem, with 11.
