CMAT criticizes capitalism in the polyhedral ‘Euro-Country’

CMAT publishes on August 29 one of the most anticipated albums of summer. It is called ‘Euro-Country’ and already defended it in Spring Sound, where it swept a much more massive audience than it would have guessed. The first single from the album, ‘Take A Sexy Picture of Me’, we already included it in our special with the best 2025 songs, but they are simple to highlight. The new one, who titled the album precisely, is our song of the day today.

The singer explains the fourth advance of the album that you can already preserve and listen partially on the streaming platforms: “I have certain phrases that resonate in my head over and over again, and Euro-Country was one of them. It is the title of the album and the name of the first song. And it means three things for me: it is the type of country music that I do; the fact that I do governed by the euro; and that capitalism is one of the worst things that have happened to us. ”

If the claiming character in CMAT shows is perceived above all by the unequivocal queer character of herself and her musicians, in this song it goes to another level. The artist sings about “euro country”, questioning the “absence of identity”, and the effort to resemble the popstars of the USA, renouncing the own and genuine. In fact, the theme begins with some phrases in Irish, and hence the video is a celebration of its own identity … just from a shopping center that criticizes the song.

The theme also contains a criticism of all “the big boys and all Berties”, which is considered a reference to Bertie Ahern, and the pain generated by the economic crisis of 2008, even leading some people to suicide. CMAT sings in a poetic way about all this, with a more epic melody of what could be a love song. In a complementary way, ‘Euro-Country’ can also be read as “European country”, with a more progressive, claiming and modern theme than the American.
