Charli xcx and Jelly Roll have competed for number 1 albums in the United States this week with their respective releases. On the one hand, Charli has just reissued ‘Brat’ along with a succulent remix album full of stellar guests. Thanks to the fact that the remix album is counted alongside the original, ‘Brat’ has just reached number 1 album in the United Kingdom, mainly thanks to streaming. He has left his main rival, Paul Heaton, in second place.
On the other hand, rapper Jelly Roll has released his new album, ‘Beautifully Broken’. Roll is known for hits like ‘Need a Favor’ or, lately, for his collaboration with Eminem on ‘Somebody Save Me’.
The HITS Daily Double portal reported that both ‘Brat’ – thanks to its expansion – and ‘Beautifully Broken’ were fighting very closely for number 1 albums on the Billboard. Its sales were estimated at around 150,000 units, copy above, copy below.
Today it has been confirmed that Jelly Roll has achieved the first No. 1 album of his career with ‘Beautifully Broken’. On the other hand, ‘Brat’ has reached No. 3, which was already its maximum position on the Billboard 200. The American rapper has sold 161,000 units, while Charli has sold 105,000 units. However, it should be mentioned that, despite not having reached first place, this is the British artist’s best week on the US charts thanks to her remix album, since the first time it entered was with 70,000 units sold. Rod Wave is number 2 with ‘Last Lap’ and 127,000 units.
Each artist has made a move in some way. In recent days, Charli has released a remix of ‘Spring Breakers’ with Kesha, and Jelly Roll has reissued the album with bonus tracks for a total of 28 tracks.
