Charli xcx joins a 4th film, the Polish ‘Erupcja’

Variety today exclusively confirms the premiere of ‘Erupcja’, a new film written by playwright and actor Jeremy O. Harris and directed by filmmaker Pete Ohs that will feature Charli xcx in one of the main roles.

‘Erupcja’ was filmed in Warsaw, Poland, in August, that is, in the middle of Brat Summer, without “anyone” knowing. Charli escaped to the Polish capital to shoot the film “secretly,” although information about the filming was leaked online shortly after.

‘Erupcja’, whose title means “eruption” in Polish, tells the story of two women and their “explosive” relationship, a Polish woman played by Lena Góra, and another who is visiting, played by Charli xcx, and whose name is has made public: Bethany. She will be a shy woman, that is, “the complete opposite” of Charli, according to what the artist herself has told the aforementioned media.

‘Erupcja’ is already the fourth film announced in 2024 in which Charli xcx will participate, after the erotic thriller ‘I Want Your Sex’, the remake of ‘Faces of Death’ and the big screen adaptation of the graphic novel ‘100’ Nights of Hero’. Not content with that, Aitchinson will appear in the comedy series ‘Overcompensating’, directed by Benito Skinner.

In another vein, Charli has confirmed the final listing for her remix album, which comes out this October 12. Barcelona breakout artist Bb trickz appears on track 2, ‘Club classics’, just after Robyn’s remix and before Ariana Grande’s.
