Charli XCX has been confirmed as a cast member for Gregg Araki’s new film I Want Your Sex. Charli’s role in the film is unknown, but Olivia Wilde and Cooper Hoffman are known to play the lead roles and the film is set to begin shooting in October.
According to Variety, ‘I Want Your Sex’ is an “erotic thriller” that will explore themes related to “sex, obsession, power, betrayal and murder.” The film will include “outlandish characters” and will use an irreverent comedic tone.
In the film, Hoffman will play a young man named Elliot who lands a job alongside “prestigious artist, provocateur and icon” Erika Tracy, played by Wilde. “His fantasies soon become reality when Erika sets out to be his sexual muse,” the synopsis states.
Araki is one of the filmmakers who defined the “New Queer Cinema” movement during the 1990s, thanks to his “Apocalypse Trilogy” for example. During the current century, Araki has directed such acclaimed films as “Mysterious Skin” (2004) and “Kaboom” (2010). Among his latest works, the lysergic comedy “Smiley Face” (2007) has unjustly gone unnoticed.
‘I Want Your Sex’ gives Charli xcx her second big-screen role, as the ‘Club Classics’ singer was already confirmed to be in the cast of ‘Faces of Death’, Daniel Goldhaber’s next feature film, a remake of the 1978 cult film.
In a few weeks, on September 14, Charli XCX and Troye Sivan’s joint tour, ‘SWEAT’, kicks off and will travel through the United States and Canada until October 23.
