Charli leaves ‘Talk talk’ as new with Troye and Dua Lipa

Charli XCX has officially released the remix of ‘Talk Talk’ featuring Troye Sivan. Dua Lipa appears, as announced, in this new version of ‘Talk Talk’, but she only recites one sentence in Spanish at the beginning and another in French at the end. In the first one, she invites Charli and Troye to a party at her house. In the second, she announces that she has lost her phone, but that she doesn’t care because “it’s been a great evening.”

The remix of ‘Talk Talk’ is very different from the original recording – although it doesn’t lose its dance intent at all – and not just because of the inclusion of a hammering house piano riff. Both Troye and Charli sing completely new verses on the song, absorbed in the “obsession” that a person provokes in them. They want to take her to “Amsterdam” and book a hotel, and not exactly to “talk”.

A remix album for ‘brat’ has also been announced, titled ‘Brat and it’s completely different but also still brat’. The album is due out on 11 October and includes remixes with Billie Eilish, Lorde, Robyn and Yung Lean, Addison Rae and Troye Sivan, and 11 other remixes that have not yet been revealed. A remix of ‘Von dutch’ with Skream and Benga is left out.

Rumour has it that both Madonna and Pink Panthers could be involved in the ‘brat’ remix: both have been seen wearing the same “about fucking time” T-shirt that Charli and Troye have worn in promotional images. A T-shirt that -coincidentally- Dua Lipa has also worn.

The arrival of the remix of ‘Talk talk’ was first hinted at on Charli’s parallel account 360_brat, where an audio of Dua Lipa’s voice was uploaded sending a message to Charli xcx and Troye Sivan. In Spanish, too. “Charli, Troye, a big kiss for you.” Dua finished her message with a “muah,” like the one in her 2016 single.
