Chanel continues to build its repertoire of singles, slowly but surely. The next one is titled ‘Loka’ and is a collaboration with the Canarian rapper Maikel Delacalle. Promising a “little dog in the plasita”, a possible reference to the lyrics of ‘Te boté’, ‘Loka’ is published this Friday, November 3.
The preview of ‘Loka’ available on Chanel’s Instagram account reveals that the song will not exactly have a reggaeton sound, but will be danceable and electronic. Inna’s house-pop may have been an influence on the production style, although, melodically, Chanel’s Latin pop base is still present.
Apparently a bet for the clubs, ‘Loka’ should improve the commercial data of Chanel’s previous single, ‘Ping Pong’ with Ptazeta, which did not go beyond position 90 on the Spanish singles chart. A result very far from that of ‘Clavaíto’ with Abraham Mateo, which was number 6, is certified with a quadruple Platinum Record and, ultimately, has been one of the songs of the summer.
These days, Chanel has been in the news for speaking out about the absence of ‘SloMo’ from her live repertoire for a year. Terrero did not want to go into details about this strange circumstance, but he confirmed that he does not play ‘SloMo’ “because there are many things you don’t know.” Her fans speculate that there may be a conflict with copyright.
About her debut album, which exists, Chanel recently told JENESAISPOP that she is in no hurry to finish it, and talked about her sound. “I think they all have something in common,” she declared. «That mix between pop and Latin that characterizes me a lot. They are songs to sing. And there are ballads, of course, I’m not going to tell you what song it’s going to be for, but I’m an enjoyer.
