Carolina Durante lowers the revolutions in the first single from their next album, 'Elige Tu Propia Aventura', which promises to be the most mature of the Madrid band. The single has nothing to do with what Diego Ibáñez's group has accustomed us to: ballad, string and wind arrangements and no chorus. It's one of his best songs.
Based on the well-known children's books, 'Choose Your Own Adventure' is about the decisions we make in life and that have no turning back, no matter how painful they may be. “To this day I obsessively rack my brain over every single thing I do wrong or could have done better for days, weeks and months as if it were of any use,” says the band's singer and lyricist.
With a build up that begins with some intimate guitar plucks and ends with brilliant instrumentation, Carolina Durante builds lyrics that, at first, could go along with the band's hooligan line (“Choose your own adventure, I choose junk food.” ), but that quickly turns into something much deeper: “Choose your own adventure, I choose to be a son of a bitch, I choose to be like my father, and I choose to leave you aside.”
Carolina Durante's new and sophisticated instrumental direction comes from Ali Chant, producer of artists such as Yard Act, Dry Cleaning or Perfume Genius, as well as multi-instrumentalist David Grubb and trumpeter Pete Judge, who has worked with artists of the caliber by Massive Attack. According to the press release, we can also find all of this on Carolina Durante's new LP.
