Carlota Flâneur, the Barcelona singer-songwriter who this year released the album ‘What My Body Wants’ through Hidden Track Records (Ferran Palau, Renaldo & Clara), is the latest artist confirmed in the programming of AFERS, the recently released Sala Apolo series that one Friday of each month features a local artist and another European artist, united by their musical style.
Flâneur will perform on December 12, and will share the bill with the London singer Mina Okabe. The appointment is at 7:30 p.m.
Carlota Flâneur is the alias of Carlota Cerrillo Moya, whom we met five years ago with the colorful single ‘Generation of the young flesh’, produced by Ferran Palau. Its soft and padded sound has ended up defining Flâneur’s style, to which must be added its lyrics always performed in English, with an excellent accent.
The repertoire of ‘What My Body Wants’ redoubles Flâneur’s commitment to his characteristic style of soft and crystalline indie-pop. In standout tracks like ‘Hit Your Face’ or ‘Acting Wisely’, calm tempos and acoustic and electric guitar strums abound, while the clarity of Emili Bosch’s (b1n0) production is especially noticeable in the vocals, bass and keyboards, and in the subtle production details that decorate the songs.
The pace accelerates slightly in cuts like ‘Watery Eyes’, but ‘What My Body Wants’ is always a work to enjoy calmly and peacefully. Mac DeMarco, the debut of Natalie Prass, or the projects of Ferran Palau or Socunbohemio, would be similar proposals.
