After a totally ‘BRAT’ year, Charli xcx is crowned receiving the highest number of nominations at the BRITS. Only she is capable of making the British awards, which take place on March 1 at the O2 in London, relevant again.
Charli leads with five nominations, including Artist of the Year, Song of the Year (‘Guess’ with Billie Eilish) and Record of the Year. This is followed by Dua Lipa, The Last Dinner Party and Ezra Collective, each with four mentions. On the other hand, The Cure, in their first BRIT nominations in more than 30 years, will be up for Record of the Year, Group of the Year and Best Alt/Rock Artist.
It is striking not to see Kendrick Lamar on the International Song of the Year list, given that ‘Not Like Us’ has been one of the biggest hits of the year, but to see The Beatles with their first nomination since 1977, when the prizes. At the moment, the gala performances have not been announced.
