Britney Spears voluntarily enters rehab

As confirmed by a representative of the singer to Variety and Rolling Stone, Britney Spears has entered a rehabilitation center voluntarily.

The news comes just a month after Spears was arrested for drunk driving. Spears was released a few hours later, but still has a pending trial stemming from the incident, which could have had to do with her entering rehab. From TMZ, they attribute the singer’s decision to substance abuse.

“This has been an unfortunate incident that cannot be justified in any way,” one of her representatives explained at the time of the arrest, noting that “Britney will take the correct measures and comply with the law”: “Hopefully, this can be the first step towards a long-awaited change in Britney’s life,” he continued. She addressed what happened in an Instagram post a few weeks later: “Thank you for all your support… spending time with family and friends is a blessing,” she wrote.
