Britney didn’t understand Sabrina Carpenter’s performance at the VMA’s

Like you, Britney Spears didn’t watch the VMAs, but she did watch a few things on YouTube. Among them, Sabrina Carpenter’s performance, which included her last 3 hits and a nod to Britney Spears’ ‘Oops… I Did It Again’. It was one of our favorite performances.

The fact is that Spears didn’t like it very much, as she commented in an online video that quickly went viral. Specifically, she didn’t quite understand it. Her words were: “Why did she kiss an alien on stage? I adore her. I love her. To death. But I didn’t understand that part. Why didn’t she kiss a girl instead? I don’t know, it was weird.”

Sabrina Carpenter kissed the alien – in women’s clothing – during a performance of ‘Taste’, in which she addresses a guy who is getting back together with his ex. Carpenter hopes the other still feels like she was there. The kiss comes after the line “I’m known for sharing,” a reference to her boyfriends and exes being sometimes famous (Olivia Rodrigo). She then pushed the alien away from her.

Britney must have been mulling this over, because she continued: “I also think the whole thing[of the performance]was a bit weird. But after I took a really long bath, I started to shape it. I’m shaping it. I like shaping and mapping things out and going back over them. This girl Sabrina, she said my name on the red carpet and I thought that’s cool. Because sometimes I forget that I’m famous, because I’m a mother, I’m a little bit older and all that, blah blah blah. But this girl, Sabrina, is cool. Carpenter. She said something about me and I thought that’s cool.”
