Luna Ki returns to Benidorm Fest in style. After the non-television setback of ‘I’m going to die’, whose candidacy had to be withdrawn due to the use of Auto-tune, prohibited in Eurovision – at that time the destination of this contest -, ‘Bomb of love’ is the best song that could be presented. Far from that hyperpop that, after all, Rakky Ripper brought to BenFest too long ago, this production immerses itself in current rhythms.
2025 has been the year of salsa in many ways: Bad Bunny has claimed it in songs like ‘Unforgettable Dance’ and Nathy Peluso has dedicated an entire EP to it. In that sense, ‘Bomba de amor’ is the Latin song that we have been wanting to bring to Eurovision since the ‘Lo malo’ fiasco. Especially because the best thing is that his vision of salsa is not anchored in the past: it is heterodox. And that’s the only “straight” thing you’ll find in this song, if you’ll allow me the easy joke.
Proof of its sonic diversity, our Song of the Day opens with an acoustic guitar. Before being a “trendy” song, it is a conventional pop-rock composition. Afterwards, he surprises with certain strokes of mambo in rhythm and synthesized winds, and above all of rap and urban music, something very visible in the bridge “I kill for you.”
Although the best, mix of genres aside, is the solidity of the pre-chorus, chorus and hook, close to the best Bad Gyal: it is difficult to decide if the “how nice it would be to make love to you”, the “it’s a bomb, bomb, bomb” or the falling notes on the piano stick more.
‘Bomb of love’ is a lesbian love song, in which one wants to eat the “bemba” (the mouth) of the recipient, “Miss Catalina.” This has just been confirmed by Luna Ki in an interview in which she talks about her new sound. In a conversation with Malbert, Luna Ki said that this will be the most Latin song on her album, in which she wanted to “remove layers” so that you can see who she is now.
He explains on this topic: «It is an expansion of love. Imagine that you can’t stand me and your loved ones know that: that is a bomb of hate. The love bomb is the only bomb we should have in the world. In this case it is lesbian love, with two people interacting, expanding love. It is impossible to bring up the topic and not have something positive come out of it. It’s time for me to be known for my fun side. I have suffered mental health problems and I express it in my songs. There will be ugly things on my album, but now I want to provoke with beauty, with laughter and good vibes. There is always a hidden side, but we all also need a love bomb.
In the talk, Luna Ki also advances that she will perform this song at Benidorm Fest without Auto-tune because this song, although it contains it, does not need it.
