Boards of Canada release their first album in 13 years in a month

Boards of Canada have recently released a snippet of new music that seemed to anticipate some kind of musical news or development.

Finally, the Scottish duo formed by Michael Sandison and Marcus Eoin, considered the main reference of downtempo music, have confirmed their first album in 13 years. The album, titled ‘Inferno’, can be heard from May 29, 2026 through the Warp Records label. There will be 70 minutes of music, the group confirms on social networks.

All this time has passed since the release of ‘Tomorrow’s Harvest’ in 2013, a work that, in turn, took almost a decade to wait. During this period, the group, author of key works of 90s electronic music such as ‘Music Has the Right to Children’ (1998), has only released occasional remixes, while artists such as the late David Bowie have been influenced by their music.
