Billy Corgan leader and founder of The Smashing Pumpkinswill bring to Madrid the next September 11 your show “A Night of Mellon Collie and Infinite Sadness”.
The concert will take place at the Palacio Vistalegre and will serve to celebrate the thirtieth anniversary of “Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness”. One of the fundamental albums of alternative rock of the nineties and a key work in the career of the American band.
The proposal transforms the iconic double album into a stage experience that combines rock, opera, choir and symphony orchestra. The new arrangements and orchestrations have been developed by James Lowe together with Billy Corgan himself. Offering a new emotional and musical reading of historical songs from the band’s repertoire.
The show comes to Europe after a series of sold-out performances at Chicago’s Lyric Opera. According to Corgan, adapting the album to classical and operatic format has been “one of the most satisfying experiences” of his career. Also highlighting the reception of the public during those performances.
With an approximate duration of two hours and an intermission, the show will include reinterpretations of emblematic songs such as “1979” or “Tonight, Tonight”, the latter taken to a fully orchestral terrain. The costumes for the production have been designed by House of Gilles, the haute couture brand led by Chloé Mendel Corgan and Gilles Mendel.
Tickets for the concert will go on sale on Thursday, May 14 at 11:00 a.m. through mitaquilla.com, palacevistalegre.com, tickets.com and The English Court.
