Billboard apologizes to Taylor Swift after including the wax figure of ‘Famous’ in a video about her achievements

Taylor Swift was named the second best popstar of the century by Billboard. In a video intended to celebrate the artist’s greatest achievements, the American media included images of her naked wax figure, used by Kanye West in the infamous ‘Famous’ video. The video has since been deleted.

The response from the singer’s fans has been immediate, with hundreds of responses to the video posted by Billboard. «We deeply apologize to Taylor Swift and all of our readers and viewers after including a clip that falsely represents her in a video celebrating her achievements. “We have removed the clip from the video and we sincerely regret the damage we have caused with this error,” the media published.

Many fans of the singer have argued that it was not a mistake, but rather a purposeful attack, ensuring that the video would have had to receive the green light from different people on the Billboard team. They also call the included clip ‘revenge porn’, since Taylor’s naked wax figure was included in ‘Famous’ without her consent.

In the video for ‘Famous’, released in 2016, Kanye West and Kim Kardashian appear in a huge bed, sleeping next to realistic wax figures of different artists and personalities. Among these, Taylor Swift, Chris Brown, Donald Trump, Rihanna or Bill Cosby. In the lyrics of the song, things went further: «I think Taylor and I could still have sex / Why? I made that bitch famous.
