Bill Callahan laughs at death on his new album, ‘My Days of 58’

A year after ‘Resuscitate!’, the prolific Bill Callahan announces another album. ‘My Days of 58’ is their 12th LP and will be released on February 27. He continues to embrace his folk-rock roots on the first teaser, ‘The Man I’m Supposed to Be’.

The American singer-songwriter is wasting no time, announcing his new album for 2026. ‘My Days of 58’ has been recorded with the musicians who accompanied Callahan on his last tour, in addition to those with whom he recorded ‘Resuscitate!’. For this LP, the artist recorded most of the reference tracks only with drummer Jim White.

Thus, improvisation remains an important element in his songwriting: “Many of the best moments on a recording come from mistakes: turning them into strengths, using them as a springboard toward something human,” Callahan explains.
