Belle and Sebastian appear in ‘The Simpsons’

Belle and Sebastian are the latest pop band to make a cameo in an episode of ‘The Simpsons’. Episode 8 of season 35 of ‘The Simpsons’ takes place in Scotland and is a tribute to the country. Willie, the janitor, is kidnapped and taken to Scotland, his native country, for reasons that Bart and the Simpson family will have to discover. However, Willie finds love.

In this tribute to Scotland from ‘Ae Bonny Romance’ it seems that neither the episode’s director, Matthew Nastuk, nor its scriptwriter Michael Price wanted to pass up the opportunity to celebrate one of the most popular Scottish groups. Belle & Sebestian plays a song recorded for the occasion, ‘Willie and the Dream of Peat Bogs’, at Willie’s pre-wedding dinner.

In recent times stars like Lizzo, Bad Bunny and Billie Eilish have made cameos in ‘The Simpsons’. Among the pop or alternative rock bands that have appeared in the series are The Smashing Pumpkins or, lately, a character suspiciously similar to Morrissey.

Belle and Sebastian closes, with their appearance on ‘The Simpsons’, a year that began with the release of their latest album, ‘Late Developers’. Recently, Stuart Murdoch has announced the release of his first novel, ‘Nobody’s Empire’, for September 2024.
