Barry B and Carolina Durante have one of the best collaborations of the summer. ‘Yo pensé que me ha tocado Dios’ combines the best of both artists, resulting in a generational anthem of the Spanish alternative scene. It is the Song of the Day.
When introducing the song during his performance at Low Festival, Barry B said that the song was working “like a motherfucker.” And with good reason. Barry B is building an enviable catalogue based on a mix of genres such as rock, punk and hip hop, and loads of charisma. His first album is just around the corner.
In this way, one of the artists with the most potential on the scene has come together with one of the most beloved bands, which is also in the process of reinvention.
The result is a song designed to be sung at the top of your lungs. Combining Carolina Durante’s signature youthful desolation (“I’d rather die tomorrow than live a thousand years without knowing you”) and Barry B’s catchy choruses (“In the end, it’s never too late / To escape from all this that’s here”), ‘Yo pensé que me ha tocado Dios’ sounds like avant-garde indie rock, with the subtle urban touches that the Aranda singer always brings.
The video, recorded in Fuenlabrada, shows both singers fighting (almost) to the death in different situations. It is not strange, then, that the song was presented for the first time at Bilbao BBK Live in a ring. Here you can see the moment captured on JENESAISPOP’s Instagram.
