As he does every year, Barack Obama has released his collection of favourite songs for the summer. The former US president is up to date and has included songs from at least three of the biggest pop releases of the year: Charli XCX, Billie Eilish and Beyoncé.
From the world of pop, Obama has chosen Charli’s ‘365’, Billie Eilish’s ‘CHIHIRO’ and Beyoncé’s ‘TEXAS HOLD ‘EM’. ‘brat’, ‘HIT ME HARD AND SOFT’ and ‘COWBOY CARTER’ are three of the most important albums of the year and it makes sense that they occupy a place on this list. On the other hand, there is no trace of Chappell Roan or Kendrick Lamar, who has starred in a beef with Drake.
We can also find some of the most viral hits of the year: ‘I Like the Way You Kiss Me’ by Artemas, ‘MILLION DOLLAR BABY’ by Tommy Richman, ‘PERRO NEGRO’ by Bad Bunny and Feid or the current number 1 on the Hot 100, ‘A Bar Song (Tipsy)’ by Shaboozey. Likewise, we can find classics such as ‘No Diggity’, ‘Golden’ (Jill Scott), ‘Satisfaction’ or ‘You’ve Really Got a Hold On Me’.
Last year, Obama again clarified that he is the one who chooses the songs himself: “People often think, ‘Well, he must have a 20-year-old intern,'” he said, only to clarify that he has the same playlist on his iPad.
