Tiny Desk, the NPR Music acoustic actions program, has become an indispensable space to bring the public to the intimate and close direct artists to the public. It is basically the MTV Unplugged of our generation.
Bad Bunny has been the last guest to the offices of Tiny Desk in Washington DC and there has presented a handful of songs that is being the album of the year, ‘I had to throw more photos’, a tribute to Puerto Rico deployed as such during the presentation.
Accompanied by a group of seven musicians, protecting their gaze after sunglasses, and sitting in an uncomfortable desk, Bad Bunny sings ‘coconut pitorro’, ‘I’m going to take you pa pr’, ‘Kloufrenns’, ‘What happened to Hawaii’ and ‘Moving’. Of ‘what happened to Hawaii’ says that he wrote it after dreaming her.
Among the funny moments of the show, Bad Bunny lies with the language after twenty minutes of show: «Did he have to speak Spanish or English? For a moment I thought I was really in Puerto Rico ». Before, he speaks of Puerto Rico, the United States and colonialism and then introduces ‘the move’, which seems “more than a song.” He adds: “My story comes from the same place from which many of us come, that’s why we are here.”
Bad Bunny prepares a residence of 21 concerts in Puerto Rico by 2025, which has sold 400,000 tickets in four hours. Benito, however, has ruled out touring in Europe.
