Angeladorrrm, the noise-pop group from Barcelona formed by Ángela, Víctor, Joan and Oriol, has announced the release of a double single composed of ‘Tinc un desig’ and its b-side, ‘Avui plors’. A b-side interesting enough to make up the Song of the Day for today, Friday. It should not go unnoticed at all.
‘Avui plors’ is, in the words of Angeladorrrm, a “desperate attempt to connect with beings of light in transit.” In that journey from one place to another, the protagonist of ‘Avui plors’ discharges “tension in the bones” and “bitterness inside” accumulated for years. «Avui plores / No pots parar / Ningú t’ho ha dit / But it is important» is one of the rhymes left by the lyrics of Àngela Balcells, who appears named individually, along with the band, in the official credits of the song. In the words of La Castanya, ‘Avui plors’ talks “about love, loss and (self) acceptance.”
To tell this story of emotional liberation, Angeladorrrm also seeks catharsis on an instrumental level, and achieves it. The raw, squared sound of drums and bass refers to the work of Radiohead or Warpaint. However, the noise soon takes over, especially in the overwhelming finale of the song. In the middle, ‘Avui plors’ also seeks to be a small prodigy at the production level, building a wall of effects that wander between psychedelia and pure effervescence.
