The initiative galeaSHOWroom has been offering “secret shows” since last year at the legendary Muebles Sofás Galea showroom (Getxo).
Part of the concert offered this spring of 2024 by the Gernika band is now available on YouTube Audience in the furniture store Galea Sofa Bedswithin the initiative galeaSHOWroomThe veteran band from Biscay led by the Insunza brothers has been around for 25 years and is, without a doubt, one of the most notable proposals influenced by American rock and folk on the Basque scene.
The quintet consisted of Kepa Elgoibar on drums, Andoni Lauzirika on double bass and bass guitar, Gaizka Insunza on acoustic guitar, electric guitar and vocals, Ager Insunza on pedal steel guitar, electric guitar, violin, keyboards and vocals, and Ruben Garatea on keyboards, accordion and vocals, and Ales was accompanied by Igor Ertzilla as sound engineer. Among the entire setlist they offered live, the songs “Rope”, “Gazte Betiko”, “Euri jasa latza dator” and “Nashville Shirts” were immortalized.
The project galeaSHOWroom was born from the unconditional passion for music of those responsible for Galea Sofa Bedsthe first store in the Basque Country (in operation since 1968) dedicated to the sale of sofas, sofa beds, auxiliary furniture and lighting. After occasionally organizing concerts in their facilities among friends, they decided to take the next step and document these musical celebrations.
The main feature is that the guests do not know who will perform until the last moment, which is what they call a “secret show”. They record and edit the live concerts that take place in their legendary furniture showroom, Sofas Galea. In short, it is like their little tribute to improvised concerts in the living room at home surrounded by friends. Thanks to these recordings, the bands have the recording of several of their songs live with high-quality sound and images.
The cycle premiered with McEnroe with Jimena (her daughter) for the band’s 20th Anniversary at Christmas 2022, and continued in February 2023 with the performance of the Malaga band based in Getxo Goons Lagoon and last spring with the legendary band from Getxo The Communist Tenant.
It is a production of Galea Home in co-production with Chaotic and Sweet Saul Musicc. They have participated Cristina Ezquerra and Juan Dopico (Cameras), Saul Santolaria (Sound and Mixing Engineer) and Juan Dopico (Production and editing).
