Ariana Grande was scheduled to attend the premiere of ‘Wicked 2: For Good’ in Rio de Janeiro this Tuesday, November 4, where she was going to accompany her co-stars Cynthia Erivo and the recently named sexiest man in the world, Jonathan Bailey. ‘Wicked 2: For Good’ would have its first international presentation there, before reaching other cities such as Paris and Singapore.
However, Ariana’s trip to Brazil could not have gotten any more complicated. After a first flight delayed for 16 hours, the second was canceled after all passengers had to disembark due to a safety and maintenance problem. The flight was rescheduled for 11 a.m. the next day, making it impossible for the singer to arrive at the event on time.
Through Instagram, Ariana explained that she and her team explored all possible options, including renting a private plane, for which they would not be able to obtain the necessary permits in time. Despite this, many fans have expressed their disappointment with hate messages and threats on social networks, which has led the author of ‘eternal sunshine’ (2024) to publish a new statement asking for calm and empathy.
“Please do not wish us any harm,” Grande wrote. “We have done everything possible and I promise you that no one is more upset than me, really. I understand your anger but, please, do not give us bad or think that we have not tried… There was no other time when I could travel and these plans had been organized for months.”
Ariana added that, for scheduling reasons, she was not going to be able to fly days before: «I finished recording another film on the 31st and I worked all day on the 1st and 2nd as well, just like Jonny, Cyn and Jon, who have been working. We were all scheduled to fly the same day. It just happened that this plane had a safety issue, and I’ve already explained why it’s been impossible to find another option… I’ve been waiting for this moment for a year… so please know how disappointed I am.” Who wants fans when you have… this?
