Arca have announced their first album in five years and it will arrive at the end of this month. The Venezuelan artist has revealed that the successor to the latest installment of ‘KICK’ will be titled ‘XXXXX’ and will be available on July 31. Its haunting cover, inspired by the work of HR Giger, and the 16-song tracklist have also been discovered.
Arca’s eighth album is described as a work that is “darker, more aggressive, more experimental and reluctant to fit into a fixed form,” according to the official note. In addition to the long-awaited release, the author of ‘Puta’ has also announced the broadcast of a “unique” live show directed by Daniel Sannwald, who is behind the videos for ‘Motomami’ or ‘Sola’, by Arca herself.
The live will begin this Thursday, July 23 at 9:30 p.m. from Barcelona and promises to “blur the boundaries between IRL, streaming, durational performance and hallucination.” It can be seen on Twitch and YouTube and will include unreleased songs from the new LP.
