Anuel AA and Justin Quiles, two of the most influential artists in Latin music, both from Puerto Rico, have publicly supported Donald Trump’s candidacy in the United States, appearing alongside Trump at a rally held in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, this Friday, August 30.
Not many Latin artists have taken the step of supporting Trump; Anuel AA and Justin Quiles are the highest profile artists who have done so.
In his speech, Anuel AA declared that Trump is the “best president that the world has ever seen, that this country has ever seen,” and promised that Trump “wants to help Puerto Rico grow and succeed as a country.” For his part, Quiles advocated for “saying things as they are, not as you think people want to hear” (sic), and stated that “many Latinos stand firm with President Trump.”
Anuel AA and Justin Quiles, two very well-known names in Spain, as they frequently appear on the hit lists in our country, join the list of pop artists who have given their support to the Republican candidate in the United States, among whom are not only Kanye West, but also country star Jason Aldean, MIA and Azealia Banks.
On the other side of the coin, artists such as Beyoncé, Céline Dion, Foo Fighters and, more recently, ABBA and the White Stripes, have denounced the use of their music in Trump’s campaigns and threatened to take legal action against the former president for using their music without permission. Beyoncé and Foo Fighters, in particular, have publicly supported Kamala Harris.
