On Sunday the BBK Room will screen the documentary “The Marseillaise of drunks” by Pablo Gil Rituerto, with a concert by Loving where he will perform part of the film’s soundtrack and other pieces from his particular songbook. This performative proposal brings together memories and sound archives that make up the emotional and political geography of a territory in which the wounds of the past are open.
The film recovers the clandestine trip that the Italian music group made in the summer of 1961. Cantacronachein the midst of the dictatorship, collecting popular songs of the resistance in the north of the Iberian Peninsula. More than half a century later, the team of this film follows in the footsteps of Cantacronache and makes stops in Catalonia, Asturias, Cantabria and Euskadi. The documentary film recovers songs of anti-fascist resistance with reinterpretations of María Arnal & Marcel Bagues, Nacho Vegas, The Motilleja Round, Works at the time of two Sputniks, Faia Diaz Novo, Turón Mining Choir either Victor Herreroamong others.
The session will be accompanied by the interpretation of Amorante (Iban Urizar)live from one of the songs included in the film, as well as other pieces from the elgoibartarra songbook where tradition and modernity embrace each other in a magical way.
