The American independent record label Cleopatra Records reported the death this Saturday, December 21, Casey Chaosknown for being a vocalist of Amenfrom the supergroup Scum and occasional member of Christian Death.
Casey Chaos was fifty-nine years old at the time of his death, the circumstances and causes of which have not yet been made known. What we do know is that Chaos was an icon of punk in the second half of the nineties thanks to his energy, his fierceness and a staging that, in those days, was overwhelming.
His real name was Karim Chmielnski and he began his career after seeing bands like Black Flag live. From there he formed the group Casey & The Skatepunx to take his first steps in the world of punk. Born in Trenton (New York), he began his career in Los Angeles after spending his youth in other areas of the country. In 1994 he recorded the debut of Amen, “Slave”of which two thousand copies were published and of which he was in charge of practically all the instruments. It was then that Roadrunner approached him and signed the group to record an album with Ross Robinson (Korn, At The Drive-In) to production. That leads us to “Amen”an album that would be published in 1999 and for which a band would have been formed to go on tour with. In 2000 it would see the light “We Have Come For Your Parents” and in 2004 “Death Before Musick”.
Chaos would also be part of the supergroup Scum together with members of Emperor, Turbonegro and Zyklonas well as Christian Death for a brief period in the first half of the nineties.
