La Oreja de Van Gogh officially announces the return of Amaia Montero to the group, and also the temporary departure of another of its founding members, Pablo Benegas, who is leaving the band to “focus on his family and explore new professional challenges.” Benegas will continue to be part of the band, but will not accompany it live in this new stage.
ElDiario.es publishes the first image of Amaia’s return to La Oreja de Van Gogh, in front of her colleagues Xabi San Martín, Álvaro Fuente and Haritz Garde.
The official statement, cited by ElDiario.es and available on Instagram, reveals that the group, together with Amaia, has spent “a year in San Sebastián” writing “new stories and also remembering all the previous ones,” and notes that “they will soon tell more details and news.”
“We needed to raise our hands today and tell you that yes, we are here and that the horizon is full of magical nights like those in which your passion and our songs mixed in an unforgettable spell,” declares the group in the text reproduced by the newspaper.
La Oreja already publishes a video on Instagram of Amaia, Xabi, Álvaro and Hartiz rehearsing in the studio, which seems to be an unreleased song.
Almost at the same time, Leire Martínez appears to have responded to La Oreja’s statement, publishing a video of the Operación Triunfo contestants rehearsing ‘My Name’. “How is this going to sound!” cried the artist, who will sing ‘My Name’ with the participants at next Monday’s gala.
