Almodóvar shoots Almeida and jokes about Pedro Sánchez

44 years after presenting his first film, ‘Pepi, Luci, Bom and other girls from the pile’, at the San Sebastián Festival, Pedro Almodóvar has returned to the festival to present ‘The Room Next Door’. In addition, they give him an honorary award that comes after the recognition of his last film with the Golden Lion in Venice.

Pedro Almodóvar was in a great mood at the press conference, joking about Pedro Sánchez’s physique: «In addition to being our president, in Europe and the US they call him ‘Mr. Handsome’. Of course, there are many things to ask of a man with those characteristics on a political level and on a physical level as well.” He has even offered to put on a cabaret for her.

He also recalled that his exhibition in Madrid was conceived during the Manuela Carmena (Now Madrid) era and stressed that the current mayor of Madrid, Martínez Almeida (Popular Party), has not gone to visit it: “It was their turn. They have received enormous success as a gift.”

Later, in his speech itself, he once again thanked Pedro Sánchez for his presence for supporting culture and then he was barely able to contain his emotion: ““It is difficult to remain intact at a time like this, but I am going to try desperately.” ”.

He later said: “Since I was little, in the cinema I saw a reality that was better than mine. He has saved me from many dangers and given me everything. Cinema has been a curse and a blessing. I don’t understand any other life than the one I lead, writing and shooting films. My life has no meaning without cinema. Even when I run out of ideas, I’ll keep rolling. Because I don’t conceive the other possibility, the void.” Likewise, he has acknowledged: “Today, when someone tells me that because of my cinema they have studied Spanish or come to Madrid because of my films, I feel fulfilled.”
