Almodóvar, on Harry Styles: “More sissy than anyone on stage and absolutely heterosexual”

Pedro Almodóvar has been the latest guest on Cara Al Show, Marc Giró’s new program on La Sexta after being on La 1 with Late Xou. The Spanish director talked about the few programs he watches, the time he was offered a blank check to do television and his friendship with stars like Harry Styles or Dua Lipa: “She’s pretty, tall, but she also reads,” Almodóvar said about the singer.

The director of ‘Bitter Christmas’ assured that he had already written his next film, “in which black humor returns,” he says. We know that the cinema has it under control, but television is another matter: «I am not a TV viewer, but I put on La Sexta Xplica! on Saturdays, to prove, once again, that we Spaniards are incapable of debating. We are unable to speak one at a time. We have to speak three, four or five. “It’s disappointing,” he commented.

He claims to hate reality shows, but he remembers with humor the time he found Isabel Pantoja on Survivors while he was surfing: «I ran into Isabel in the middle of an anxiety crisis. I had also had an anxiety crisis before and I said to myself: Come on, it happens to her too!

At one point in the conversation, Giró brought up the topic of his closeness with Dua Lipa, who Almodóvar describes as “wonderful”: “Dua loves Madrid and wants to come live here,” he said. He described her as “the complete opposite of a model”: “She’s pretty, she’s tall, all that, but she also reads,” he said, causing the audience to laugh. Harry Styles, on the other hand, was also described as “charming,” but also innocently addressed the queerbaiting accusations he has received.

«She is one of those people that you see with more feathers than anyone else, more sissy than anyone else on stage and she is absolutely heterosexual. It’s wonderful that he does it like this, that he has that absolutely gay staging, inexorably gay, and then it’s not,” Almodóvar concluded.
