Pedro Almodóvar has already started filming his new film, ‘Bitter Christmas’. This arrives after ‘The next room’, is being made between Madrid and Lanzarote, and will premiere in cinemas in 2026 by Warner Bros. Pictures Spain. Visit the Jenesaispop forum here to discuss the new Manchego director.
‘Bitter Christmas’ is the story of three characters, but starts from Elsa. This is an advertising director whose mother dies during the December bridge. After finding refuge at work, he realizes that he has not saved the necessary duel after what happened. After a panic crisis, he decides to break and travel to Lanzarote accompanied by her friend Patricia. Bonifacio, Elsa’s greatest support in bad times, stays in Madrid.
The film stars Barbara Lennie, Leonardo Sbaraglia, Aitana Sánchez-Gijón, Victoria Luengo, Patrick Criado, Milena Smit and Quim Gutiérrez. The press release details that the stories of the leading characters “are narrated in parallel to that of the scriptwriter and film director Raúl Durán, intermingling fiction and reality.” Thus, the film traces “how life and fiction are unavailable in an indissoluble way, and even painful at times.”
