Finally all the poetic work of Gata Cattana is brought together in a single volume, “Complete poetry”within the Verso & Cuento collection published by Penguin Random House. It is now available in bookstores.
“Complete poetry” is a book that compiles the poetic work of the late Gata Cattana, rapper and poet who died in 2017. The volume brings together the collections of poems “The Mohs scale” –published in life in 2016– and “I did not come to be meat” –which was published posthumously in 2020–, completing it with a new prologue, an epilogue by the editor, some handwritten poems and two hitherto unpublished poems by the Córdoban artist.
The figure of Gata Cattana has transcended and is still present thanks to her “book verse, her texts address feminist, anti-racist and class struggles. Poems conceived as beautiful and fresh revolutionary artifacts converted into pleas for peace and justice. They waste a analytical sensitivity that does not make them lose relevance today; reasons why today they have become hymns and references for several generations of readers. They continue to inspire and move everyone who comes to them, remaining latent in our lives. chest and mind like the flamenco quejíos that excited him so much”.
For the first time, his “Complete poetry” includes all of his already published work in a single volume along with recently found unpublished material: two texts, a poem and a prose text. Also included is a new prologue that highlights the relevance of his figure today and an epilogue that tells the editing process of his work at Penguin Random House.
