Alex James (Blur) will pay tribute to Britpop on a special tour

Alex Jamesbassist of Blurwill take his tour “Britpop Classical” to various British cities in the middle of next year. The concerts will feature special guests from groups from the scene of those days.

After offering a special concert at the Big Festival, recovering with his project “Britpop Classical” emblematic pieces of the genre that flooded the world in the nineties, Blur’s bassist, Alex James, has decided to take his band to a long list of British cities. In these cities he will perform classics not only from Blur, but also from Oasis, Pulp or Supergrasspractically generational companions and with whom his band shared the spotlight, headlines and covers for a few years.

The project brings together a band with a complete symphony orchestra to give a new depth and sound to all those classics. And to round out the play, James will have names like those of Phil Daniels –the actor who sang “Parklife” with Blur–Saffron (Republic) or Gary Stringer (Reef) as special guests. Of course, James himself has said that the list will be expanded in the coming weeks. In the last edition of the Big Festival, James invited members of Travis to perform together “The Universal”, the Blur song.

The tour “Britpop Classical” For now, it will be held exclusively in the United Kingdom and will have more than fifteen dates in various cities, some of which are part of the festival lineup. It will pass through places like London, Manchester, Newcastle, Southampton and Birmingham. Kicking off will be a special performance at London’s Royal Albert Hall on March 11.
