Aitana and Sam Smith sing a new version of ‘Like I Can’ together

Sam Smith is celebrating the 10th anniversary of his multi-platinum debut, ‘In the Lonely Hour’, an album that sold approximately 6 million copies worldwide between 2014 and 2015.

A reissue of ‘In the Lonely Hour’ came out earlier this month, and new versions of the singles, re-recorded for the occasion, are being added every week, featuring guest appearances by artists such as John Legend, who made his mark on ‘Lay Me Down’, and Alicia Keys, who has joined in on an updated ‘I’m Not the Only One’. Mary J. Blige has lent her services to the album’s star track, ‘Stay with Me’.

Aitana is another of the artists who will lend her voice to the reissue of ‘In the Lonely Hour’. Specifically, Ocaña has recorded a new version of ‘Like I Can’ with Smith, which was the fifth single from the album. Aitana sings a translation of the original lyrics in Spanish, defending her love against that of another person: «He’ll never love you that well». In the final chorus, Aitana and Sam sing together in English, but it is Aitana who has the last word.

Aitana, who already collaborated with Katy Perry on a remix of ‘Resilient’, has confirmed on Instagram her participation in the reissue of ‘In the Lonely Hour’.

Aitana is currently taking a break from the stage after her performance at Arenal Sound in Burriana on August 1. On December 28, the ‘Alpha’ tour will conclude at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium in Madrid.
