Actress Verónica Echegui dies at 42

Verónica Echegui, Madrid actress who jumped to fame in 2006 with her leading role in ‘I am the Juani’ of Bigas Luna, who earned him a nomination for best revelation actress in the Goya, has died at 42 years in Madrid, reports El País, as a consequence of cancer.

Echegui, born in 1983, acted in ‘I am La Juani’ with Daní Martín, from El Canto del Loco. Later, she was again nominated for the Goya for her presidiary roles in ‘The Patio de Mi jail’ (2008) by Belén Macías, and as a teacher destined for Nepal in ‘Katmandú, a mirror in heaven’ (2011), by Icíar Bollaín, in both cases in the category of best main actress. Echegui added papers as recently as in 2024, the ‘artificial justice’ and, in the last five years, he had appeared in ‘explodes exploits’ (2020), the biopic of Raffaella Carrà; ‘Objects’ (2022) or even in the second season of ‘Paquita Salas’, where she embodied Basque actress Edurne Bengoetxea, a parody of Miren Gaztañaga. Echegui also participated in musical video clips as ‘perhaps’ (2018) by Joe Twilight.
