They come back About My Cat with “Murs d’Altaveus”, a song that not only reflects their current moment, but also functions as a declaration of principles in relation to the culture of Sound Systems.
Born as a musical project in the Barcelona neighborhood of Vallcarca in 2022, Sobre Mi Gata have grown thanks to their effective combination of dub, drum’n’bass, cumbia, reggae and even EDM. They have been demonstrating it since their album “Heat of collapse” (23) which, the following year, was followed “Un món ssense humanes”already with songs in Catalan.
Now they are releasing “Murs d’Altaveus”, a declaration of principles that tells us about music “as a refuge and as a collective speaker.” Because electronic music can establish bridges between musical genres and also between party and consciousness. Thus, it works as a vindication of Sound Systems, self-managed parties and freedom through rhythm and dance.
“Murs d’Altaveus” also serves as a preview of what will be his next work and is accompanied by a video clip recorded by brainthunder in collaboration with the collective Kapara SoundSound System from the Barcelona neighborhood of Vallcarca. It shows the preparation of a dub party at the Joan Salas viewpoint (Park Güell), as well as a performance by Sobre Mi Gata themselves.
