A$AP Rocky delays album: Morrissey and Danny Elfman confirmed

A$AP Rocky hasn’t released an album since 2018 (‘TESTING’). It seemed that on August 30th the wait was going to come to an end with the release of the long-awaited ‘Don’t Be Dumb’, but it will finally be delayed until an undetermined date in the fall. However, there is great news thanks to an interview with Billboard. Among these, the presence of Morrissey is confirmed.

“LEAKS AND SAMPLE AUTHORIZATIONS ARE AFFECTING THE ALBUM. IT’S BEEN SIX YEARS AND I WANT TO MAKE THE BEST ALBUM EVER. I’M SORRY FOR THE WAIT,” Rocky posted on X accompanying the Billboard piece. In it, the Harlem rapper gives great details about ‘Don’t Be Dumb’, such as that he tried to recruit Tim Burton to design the cover. He didn’t succeed, but Burton did get to listen to the album in full.

“He was shaking his head and he said, ‘Wow, I didn’t know you made that kind of music!'” Rocky told the American media, assuring that Burton “was freaking out” about the album. The director will not be involved in the project, but one of his great collaborators will be. In this way, Danny Elfman would have contributed to ‘Don’t Be Dumb’ with several musical fragments spread throughout the LP.

‘Don’t Be Dumb’ will also feature Tyler, the Creator, Pharrell, Mike Dean, Madlib, Metro Boomin, Hitkidd and Morrissey. Apparently, the British singer will share a song with Busta Rhymes, Flavor Flav, Slick Rick and Fatman Scoop, which is surreal above all. While we wait for the album, A$AP Rocky has shared the video for the recent ‘Highjack’, featuring Jessica Pratt.
