CMAT is still as fun as ever, which does not take her away from doing absolute songs. The Irish singer-songwriter prepares to launch her new studio album, entitled ‘Euro-Country’, on August 29. The last single, which arrives after ‘Running/Planning’, is as adorable as addictive. ‘Take a sexy picture of me’ is the song of the day.
The artist confesses in the first lines of the song, which hooks from the first seconds, that “since she was a little girl” all he wanted was “being sexy.” Along the way, leaving phrases as funny as this: “Nine years, trying to shave with adhesive tape,” he sings.
Age is a central theme of the song, with multiple references along the subject. “Take me a sexy photo / and make me seem to be sixteen,” CMAT sings in the magnificent chorus. Shortly after, on the bridge, the Irish singer suggests some vulnerability among so much laugh: “You have not looked at me the same since I turned twenty -seven.”
‘Take a sexy picture of me’ perfectly defines the style with which CMAT identifies and, at the same time, gives its name to its next album, ‘Euro-Country’. In addition, he adds two meanings to this term. One would be the “type of loss, pain and lack of community that we all suffer from the isolation of modern capital.” Another refers directly to Ireland: “The most toxic boyfriend I’ve had,” says CMAT.
