‘A breath in the heart’ from Family, the book

EFE EME has just put ‘Un soplo en el corazón’ on sale on its website, before it reaches physical stores. The mystery of Family’, the book that tells the story of one of the essential pop albums in Spanish, created by Javier Aramburu and Iñaki Gametxogoikoetxea.

Its author, César Prieto Álvarez, reconstructs through interviews with friends of the duo, musicians, journalists, venue managers, fanzines or the album’s producer, Rodrigo Silva Ramos, the gestation of Family’s only album, published in 1993. A work which, due to its timeless sound and the sincerity of its lyrics, marked an entire generation of listeners.

Using the material collected, the author “develops a story that begins in the early eighties, records a sequence shot of the new formations that were emerging, mainly in San Sebastián, and explains how they managed to show their heads, disembark in Madrid at the beginning of the nineties and formed a style that was mistakenly called Donosti Sound.

‘Un soplo en el corazón’ has been reissued with each new decade, in 2003, 2013 and 2023. In 2014, in addition, a tribute album was released with collaborations from La Casa Azul or La Monja Enana.
