Mónica Naranjo, on tour presenting her Greatest Hits, has taken advantage of her recent visit to Valdepeñas to comment on the situation in Ceuta. On July 30, some 70,000 people from Morocco burst into Ceuta in a massive entry that lasted for hours.
Pedro Sánchez has said that, for now, there is no evidence that the Moroccan Government was behind the massive entry, although he has recognized the permissiveness of the Moroccan authorities. He has also made it clear that, if evidence appears that demonstrates Rabat’s involvement, the Government will act.
In Valdepeñas, Naranjo was visibly upset when talking about the situation and said: «We cannot allow what is happening. It doesn’t matter what political party we like. “At this moment more than ever we all have to be united.”
The artist receives applause from the public when she declares that “Ceuta is Spain”, and that “as Spaniards they need us.” And he continues, more abstractly: «We are not in this life to survive but to live. When we survive it is because we depend on something. And we don’t have to depend on that something, that something has to depend on us, what the hell. It is not very clear what he is referring to in his last words.
