Tim Curry, star of ‘The Rocky Horror Picture Show’, dies

Tim Curry, leading actor in films such as ‘The Rocky Horror Picture Show’ or the television version of ‘It’, has died at the age of 80. Although a cause of death has not been revealed, Curry was known to have suffered a stroke in 2012 for which he was confined to a wheelchair.

Curry will always be remembered for playing the ‘Sweet Transvestite’ and wonderful Dr. Frank N. Furter in ‘The Rocky Horror Picture Show’, the film that brought him fame in the mid-70s, but his versatility as a comedian, singer and voice actor was what made his career last until the end of his days.

He played a con man in the 1982 musical ‘Annie’ and a demon in ‘Legend’ (1985) alongside Tom Cruise and under the direction of Ridley Scott before landing the other role for which he would be remembered for decades, although ironically Curry was unrecognizable. Thus, his performance as the clown Pennywise in the television miniseries ‘It’ would remain forever in the minds of all children of the 90s.

Tim Curry’s forte was undoubtedly comedy, appearing in films such as ‘Home Alone 2’, ‘The Muppets on Treasure Island’ or in the third Addams Family film, playing Gomez Addams. After his serious stroke in 2012, Curry continued working as a voice actor for animated products or video games.
