Frank Gálvez, musician of Gasca y Mostaza Gálvez, dies

Frank Gálvez, a musician and singer known especially for having been part of Gasca and for the project he shared for years with Guille Mostaza, Mostaza Gálvez, has died. The news was communicated by Mostaza himself, who said goodbye to his friend with a long and emotional message.

Gálvez, born in Barcelona in 1976, was in charge of Gasca, a band that released the album ‘Telescopio’ on Elefant in the early 2000s and which became a cult reference within the indie scene. Gálvez and Mostaza met precisely at that time, when Gasca opened for Niza, a group with which the then member of them collaborated.

Years later, both would end up sharing a flat and studio and making songs together. This is how Mostaza Gálvez was born, a project that published the EP ‘Restos’ in 2016 and the albums ‘Vida y miraculos’ (2017) and ‘Desventura’ (2020). In both, Gálvez and Mostaza alternated voices, while also sharing the instrumentation and production.

In 2023, Gálvez also published his first solo album, ‘Siempre te diré que si’, released by Subterfuge. The album brought together ten songs and was produced by Guille Mostaza, in addition to the instrumental participation of Diego Perinetti.

It was precisely Mostaza who broke the news. “A friend is leaving me, a life partner, a partner in a flat, in a studio, in a group, on stage, on a trip, of laughter and tears,” his farewell begins. The musician remembers Gálvez as “a brother”, a person of “excellent humor and abundant energy” and “a talented disaster” with whom he shared 25 years of friendship.

“There was no facade or disguise in him,” writes Mostaza. “If you can talk about someone authentic, it is Frank Gálvez.” And he concludes: “Now the world is a little grayer without him here.”
