Remi Wolf returns with the explosion of noise and emotion of ‘Twiggy’

Remi Wolf returns with his first single in two years. ‘Twiggy’ inaugurates a new stage for the American and is our Song of the Day. It begins with a strummed guitar, but grows until it explodes between forceful percussion, guitars and distorted synthesizers. The melody goes from emotion to catharsis.

The lyrics portray a relationship marked by attraction and dependence based on very specific images: a Lexus driving in reverse, nicotine gum, a foreign pool or that “little Twiggy ass” in the chorus. As the song progresses, the tone becomes more sour and leads to an exchange of reproaches and resentment, summarized in verses such as “You don’t fucking miss me / You just miss your mother” or the devastating “God I fucking hate you.”

Regarding the meaning of ‘Twiggy’, Wolf has joked: “I wrote it about people I’ve been with who had no asses or emotional availability. And about how I like that. Or maybe it’s just talking about the chaos of addiction. I don’t know, you decide.
