Bad Bunny, Taylor Swift, Gaga, Sabrina and Tate McRae, at the Emmys

The race towards the 2026 Emmys leaves a milestone for live music: Bad Bunny has scored 9 nominations thanks to his performance during the halftime of Super Bowl LX, an unprecedented number that makes his “halftime how” the most nominated in history.

The special, The Apple Music Super Bowl LX Halftime Show Starring Bad Bunny, will compete in categories such as Best Live Variety Special, direction, choreography, production design, lighting, hairstyling, technical production and camera work. If he wins the award for Best Live Variety Special, Bad Bunny would personally receive the Emmy by appearing as producer of the show.

Another of the great protagonists of these nominations is Taylor Swift, who has obtained 5 nominations thanks to the docuseries about the Eras Tour. These include best directing for a variety special, editing, sound, technical production and Best Pre-Recorded Variety Special, the only category in which Swift would be recognized directly as an artist and producer. The singer already has an Emmy, won in 2015 for the AMEX interactive project ‘Unstaged: Taylor Swift Experience’.

For her part, Lady Gaga adds a new nomination thanks to ‘The Dead Dance’, a song she co-wrote for the Netflix series ‘Miércoles’ and which is up for the award for Best Original Music and Lyrics.

Sabrina Carpenter also appears, nominated in the category of Best Prerecorded Variety Special for her participation in the Disney special ‘The Muppet Show’, while Raphael Saadiq will compete for the original soundtrack of High Horse: ‘The Black Cowboy’.

Tate McRae also sneaks into the nominations thanks to her performance at the MTV Video Music Awards. The medley of ‘Sports Car’ and ‘Revolving Door’ is up for the Emmy for Best Choreography for a Variety or Reality Program, a rare recognition for the VMAs: it has not happened since Michael Jackson’s legendary medley in 1995.

Beyond music, the drama series ‘The Pitt’ leads the edition’s nominations with 25 nominations, while ‘Hacks’ becomes the most nominated comedy in the history of the Emmys with 24 mentions, surpassing the record held until now by ‘The Bear’.

The 78th edition of the Primetime Emmy Awards will be held on September 14 and in Spain can be seen through Movistar+.
