Rebe and Amaia are sorceresses and bewitched in ‘Sugar and Salt’

Amaia has not tiptoed into Rebe’s peculiar world. He has gotten fully involved. The artist has just presented this afternoon the third preview of her next album with the Pamplona native, ‘Azúcar y Sal’. In this one, both singers embrace their strangest side, which is saying something.

The dreamlike keyboard and string arrangements devised by Rebe herself – who this time signs the production alone – welcome the song. We soon hear Rebbe’s voice, singing that “everyone doesn’t seem like it” or “deserves it.” On the other hand, Amaia takes the second verse with a phrase that is very much hers: “I don’t know why but your tooth shines, it makes me cry.”

The percussion grows in anticipation of the arrival of the chorus in what is also a small melodic explosion, with the voices of both artists intertwining in a melancholic way. Rebe and Amaia seem to be under the spell of another person, the only one they both think about (“I only think about you”) and who is everything to them.

This is reflected in the lyrics (“You are sugar, you are salt / You are the wine, you are bread”), but above all in the music, disconcerting and strange on first listens. However, before you know it, the spell has already taken effect. The video, between psychedelia, doll houses and a disturbing stop motion, is at the height of madness.
