Belén Aguilera prefers to be “the one who does not vocalize” than “something else”

Belén Aguilera has visited Los40 to talk about her latest EP, ‘mediterrania’, but above all she has attracted attention for her statements about the critics who say that she does not vocalize. The first thing he said is that he doesn’t usually get into X, “because if I don’t I’ll shoot myself in the head.”

Criticism of Aguilera for her pronunciation and way of singing, with many people on social media claiming that her lyrics are difficult to understand for this reason, gained more strength after her performance at the Goya Awards and her appearance at the GALLERY SESSIONS. She is clear about it: “I feel that there are many times in which we are like sheep, that there is one who says one thing and then a hundred who repeat it,” she commented.

Aguilera wants “people to have more critical thinking” and understands “that there are times when a word cannot be understood,” but she offers different solutions: “If I read a book I may not understand a word. If you don’t understand a word you can look up the letter, that’s okay,” he explains.

This claims to prioritize “the sensation that the music makes you feel” over the mix or the different singing techniques: “I could put my voice in your face so that you could listen to it and feel so comfortable, but maybe in this project I don’t feel like it.”

Finally, the artist reflects on the “negative” moment in which we find ourselves: “Are there more things to talk about? Or are you just going to focus on that word that you haven’t understood? And he makes it clear that he would not change anything about what he is doing: “If I pronounced every word, it would be something else. “I prefer to be the one who doesn’t vocalize and take it for granted,” she concludes.
