Fades denounces a homophobic attack during a concert

Fades has reported an attack suffered during their concert this weekend in Vilassar de Mar. As the group explained on social networks, several people in the audience threw ice cubes on stage up to three times, forcing the band to stop the performance repeatedly before making the decision to cancel it.

In its statement, the group points out that it is the third concert of the tour in which it suffers some type of aggression from the public, when it has only been on 10 dates. Furthermore, he denounces that these episodes are accompanied by threats and hate messages on networks.

Fades relates this situation to his visibility as a queer group and his defense of the Catalan language and culture. “We are directly suffering from the rise of the extreme right,” writes the band, which also calls for responding to this climate of hostility with organization and presence in public spaces.

The group has thanked the support of its team and the organization of the event, as well as the security device deployed during the day.

FADES statement

During yesterday’s concert in Vilassar de Mar, ice cubes were thrown at us on stage three times. After having to stop the concert three times, we decided to cancel it.

It is the third concert of this tour in which we suffered some type of aggression from the public and we have only been there for 10. All this is accompanied by threats and widespread hatred on networks. We are directly suffering the rise of the extreme right for being queer people and defending the Catalan language and culture. But we have to reconvert all this hatred together into strength to organize ourselves and continue occupying public spaces.

We want to thank both our team and the protocol and security personnel that the organization has provided us, even before starting the concert.
