SZA denounces the theft of black music with AI and criticizes Diplo

SZA has been a strong advocate for artists’ rights since the conversation about AI in the music industry became a reality. Now, he has dedicated both some stories and an Instagram post to denouncing some of the practices that have been carried out in this area. He has even pointed out artists like Diplo.

It all started because the singer realized that supposedly 238 of her songs had been used to train different artificial intelligences: “I’m sure some of them are unpublished. If you are a musician and you support this degenerate shit you are disgusting and THERE IS NOTHING YOU CAN TELL ME TO CONVINCE ME OTHERWISE. I hope you have the life you deserve,” said the artist.

He published this on his main account, at first without explicitly referring to any specific artist. However, on her secondary account SZA spoke without any filter: “I don’t know who needs to hear this but Diplo has stock in Suno and is actively trying to train him with the best and brightest black artist and producer minds.” Suno is the musical AI platform par excellence, capable of creating a song in seconds, while Diplo’s taste for these tools is not a secret either.

SZA continues her message by emphasizing the intellectual and artistic theft of African-American creatives: “I have yet to hear a white AI song… We have no protection in the legislature, medical or creative,” says the artist.
